Richard Grenell is an American diplomat and political advisor known for serving as the U.S. Ambassador to Germany from 2018 to 2020 and as Acting Director of National Intelligence in 2020, under President Donald Trump. He was the first openly gay person to hold a cabinet-level position. Grenell previously worked as a spokesperson for U.S. ambassadors to the United Nations and is active in conservative media. He holds a BA from Evangel University and an M.P.A. from Harvard Kennedy School.
